Give

Why do we give?

God our loving heavenly Father is the giver of all good things.  In thanks to Him, we freely and gladly give thanks for all His gifts of creation that sustain our body and soul in this life.  We are called to be good stewards of our lives and resources for the benefit of God’s purposes.  We share His love and mercy with each other and the world through our time, our talents, our tithes, and our offerings.  “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  We give, because God first gave to us!  “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).  “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Ordinarily, God’s gathered guests in the Divine Service give of their first fruits out of grateful hearts after hearing God’s Words of grace, mercy, and forgiveness in the preached word.  But in these extraordinary times, when we are unable to regularly gather on the Lord’s Day to hear His Word and receive His very body and blood in Sacrament, we should not use this excuse to neglect the giving of our first fruits back to the Lord just because we are not gathering for the Divine Service.

Where do our offerings go?

Your gifts for God’s Kingdom are used in these ways:

  • Mission
  • Ministry
  • Facility and equipment costs
  • Housing allowance

However, none of these are possible without the support that God gives us through your donations.  As God has blessed our members and community, you have been a blessing to us. Your donations and gifts allow us to continue to pursue our mission of caring for our community with the truth of Jesus Christ and compassionate service.  Members are still welcome to mail or bring their offerings directly to the church (place them in the offering plate in the Church Library).  But as that is not always possible, we are happy to provide this online alternative.

When you click on the “DONATE” button below, you will be transferred to a secure website operated by Vanco Payment Solutions where you will be able to safely give to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Englewood Colorado.
