Easter Wednesday 4/15/2020

Greetings in the Name of our Crucified and Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:

Today, April 15, 2020 is Easter Wednesday.  If you have not reviewed the previous Pastor’s Posts for Easter Monday and Tuesday, I invite you to do so now in order to have a better frame of reference for this post.  I pray that you find this message beneficial in your devotions this day.  This post will conclude our ten-day study of the appointed texts for Holy Week and Easter Week.

The verse or theme for Easter Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday is “Alleluia.  Christ Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.  Alleluia.”  It is from 2 Timothy 1:10b.  Interestingly this verse is not one of the appointed readings for any of the days, but is certainly a biblical truth that we find throughout these texts and all of Holy Scripture.  The focus for your devotion this day is that the Crucified and Risen Lord and Savior feeds His disciples and grants them life with God.

Old Testament:         Acts 3:13-15, 17-19

Psalm:                        Psalm 61

Epistle:                       1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Gospel:                       John 21:1-14

Collect of the Day:

Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ, You destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light.  Grant that we who have been raised with Him may abide in His presence and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.
