Easter Monday 4/13/2020

Greetings in the Name of our Crucified and Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:

Today, April 13, 2020 is Easter Monday.  If you have not reviewed the previous Pastor’s Posts for Holy Week 2020, I invite you to do so now in order to have a better frame of reference for this post.  I pray that you find this message beneficial in your devotions this day.

The verse or theme for Easter Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday is “Alleluia.  Christ Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.  Alleluia.”  It is from 2 Timothy 1:10b.  Interestingly this verse is not one of the appointed readings for any of the days, but is certainly a biblical truth that we find throughout these texts and all of Holy Scripture.  The focus for your devotion this day is that the Passover Lamb of God is known in the breaking of the bread and therefore we have a never-ending feast in the celebration of Easter.

Old Testament:         Exodus 15:1-18

Psalm:                        Psalm 100

Epistle:                       1 Corinthians 5:6b-8

Gospel:                       Luke 24:13-49

Collect of the Day:

O God, in the paschal feast You restore all creation.  Continue to send Your heavenly gifts upon Your people that they may walk in perfect freedom and receive eternal life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.
