Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
Today, April 6, 2020 is Holy Monday. Sadly, only a few Lutheran churches hold daily services during Holy Week, but the tradition has existed since the time of the Reformation in the sixteenth century and daily propers are appointed for each day of this special week in the Church year. I pray that you find this message beneficial in your devotions this day.
The theme for Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified (John 12:23b)” is found in the Gospel text for Holy Monday.
Old Testament: Isaiah 50:5-10
Psalm: Psalm 36:5-10
Epistle: Hebrews 9:11-25
Gospel: John 12:1-23
Collect of the Day:
Almighty God, grant that in the midst of our failures and weaknesses we may be restored through the passion and intercession of Your only-begotten Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Pastor Jim Tuell
